Number Shack

Last Update hace 4 meses

If you don't currently have an account with any phone provider, you can still purchase a new phone number from Number Shack and port it in when you activate service with your chosen provider.

Here's a breakdown of the process:

1. Purchase Your New Number:

  • Select and purchase your desired phone number from NumberShack.com, you will receive a Port Out Certificate (POC) via email.

2. Choose Your New Provider:

  • Select a cell phone, landline, or VOIP provider and initiate service with them.

3. Temporary Number:

  • Most providers initially assign a temporary phone number during activation.

4. Initiate Porting:

  • Once you have the temporary phone number, you can start the port with your carrier. For carrier specific instructions, please see this help article
  • You will provide your carrier the information on the POC from Number Shack.
  • We recommend reading Porting 101, our interactive online porting guide at port.numbershack.com

5. Provider Collaboration:

  • Your carrier and the carrier for Number Shack will collaborate to finalize the porting process and assign the FOC (Firm Order Commitment), the date the number will port and be active on your phone.

6. Activation with New Number:

  • Upon successful porting, your new phone number will replace the temporary number, and you can begin using your service.

Specific Provider Policies:

  • While most landline and cell phone providers issue a temporary number, some will accommodate porting during service activation, it's recommended to confirm their specific policies directly.
  • Some providers might require waiting for the temporary number assignment before initiating the porting process.

VOIP Providers:

  • Many VOIP providers offer streamlined porting experiences.
  • They typically do not issue a temporary number, rather will activate your service once the port completes, it's recommended to confirm their specific policies directly.
Always verify specific porting procedures and timelines with your chosen provider.

Important Reminders:

  • Porting Timeframes: Most ports take 2-14 business days, but unforeseen delays can occur. Hold off on promotional materials until the process is complete.
  • Account Stability: Avoid changes or cancellations to your current account until after the port is finalized.
  • 30 Day Limit: You have 30 days from purchase to initiate the port with your carrier. If you require additional time, you can add Phone Number Parking which will keep your number reserved until you are ready to port. You can find that optional service here and add it anytime, even after your initial purchase.
